SOUTHERN KUCAJ (Waterfall Prskalo)

Surprisingly, one of the most beautiful waterfall in Serbia is not located at mountain Stara planina, but in the heart of South Kucaj. Its name is waterfall Prskalo. Although it has a lack of water, even in spring, it never dries out. Prskalo is 15 meters high.

Prskalo is located in the area of the village of Resavica, well known for its coal mine. From the Belgrade-Nis highway, exit toward Svilajnac. Then continue toward Despotovac. From Despotovac, follow the signs for Resavica. The distance between Belgrade and Resavica is about 150 km (2.5 hours of drive). At the end of Resavica village, you will see a signpost “Valkaluci”, which points to the right. Turn right onto a gravel road. By this road, after 15 km, you will reach the pearl of South Kucaj, waterfall Prskalo. The road is for a jeep, not for an ordinary car, but I passed, with fiat. And I wouldn’t do it again. It took me an hour, for those 15 km. After 5-6 km, you will come to an intersection. Turn right in the direction of Nekudovo. After 10 km, on your right, you will see the magnificent waterfall Prskalo .

On the left side of the waterfall, there is a narrow path, that leads to the spring of the river Nekudovo. The spring is 50 m away from the waterfall. The spring of Nekudovo is located on the top of Prskalo. From the waterfall, the river flows further, in the direction of Resavica. Between Prskalo and Resavica, there is a place called Uviralo. There is also a board with the same inscription. Under a huge rock, at the bottom of the canyon, the river Nekudovo sinks.

The road to the waterfall is not easy, but it is worth. When you finally arrive, you will not be able to separate from Prskalo, for a long time. This waterfall is the greatest treasure of the Resava region. If you have time, visit another attractive waterfall, Veliki Buk (Lisine), as well as the monastery Manasija, near the town of Despotovac.
