BABICKA GORA (Kriva buka 1059 m)

Babička gora is located across the city of Leskovac, on the other side of the highway. The trail starts from the monasteries of Jasunja. There is two of them, and both are located at the foot of Babicka Gora. The first one is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist and the Forerunner (Jasunja), and the second, 1.5 km far from the first, is Vavedenje. Jašunja dates from the 16th and Vavedenje from the 15th century, and both are endowments of the Byzantine family Kantakouzin. We started the trail from the upper monastery, Vavedenje. Distance between Belgrade and the monastery is 280 km (3 hour by car). The trail is not marked. A wide macadam road leads to the top. There is no viewpoint, all the way to the top. The only viewpoint is at the beginning of the trail, in front of the Vavedenje monastery. From Vavedenje, it takes 5.5 km and 450 m of ascent to the top Kriva buka (1059 m). The top is in the forest.
