TUPIZNICA (1160 m)
Mountain Tupiznica is located between towns Boljevac and Knjazevac; close to mountain Rtanj. This mountain is in the shadow of nearby mountains Rtanj and Stara Planina, so it is rarely visited. It is most visited in May, during the manifestation “The days of lilac”. The trail, to the highest peak, starts at the village of Bucje, which is 225 km away from Belgrade. It can be reached by Belgrade-Nis highway, where, near Paracin, you must exit on the road to Zajecar. You must drive through the village of Grza, toward Boljevac. At the town of Boljevac, you will turn to the village of Bucje. From the village, marked path leads to the top. Path goes through the woods and then onto a ridge.
From the top, you can see mountain Rtanj (1565 m).
Peak of Tupiznica
Near the top is a transmitter. Near the transmitter is a cave, called Ledenica (Icicle). The cave is unexplored. Access is not possible, without the proper equipment. The entrance of the cave is the abyss, without a bottom. You must be very careful; the land is wet and slippery!
Ledenica cave
It takes about 3 hours to the top. This mountain is unfairly neglected. You can make a nice two-day tour, if you include a climb at Rtanj, beside Tupiznica.
