OSANICA GORGE (gate Kasonje)

If you want to explore this interesting gorge, you must reach the village of Osanica, which is 150 km away from Belgrade (2 hours of drive). The road to Osanica leads through Pozarevac, Petrovac and Gornjak gorge. At the village of Osanica, there are signposts (two of them) to Osanica gorge. The start of the trail is at this place:

At the beginning of the trail, there is a waterfall; this time without water.

After the waterfall, the gorge of the river Osanica begins. The trail is not marked, but it is clearly visible. The river can be crossed without any problems in the summer months, when the water level is low. The trail goes along the river, by both sides of the bank.

After less than half an hour of walk (1 km), you will come to the miraculous Kasonje gate. This gate is not like the other stone gates in Serbia; it is a gate, a cave and a tunnel. It’s pretty low, so you have to bend down to get inside.

If you want to go through the gate and get to the other side, you have to take off your shoes.

I went back by the same path; there was no purpose to go any further. For me, Kasonje gate is what is worth seeing in the gorge of Osanica. I believe that the waterfall is also beautiful in the spring.

Since this is a short tour, I recommend a visit of the other nearby attractions: monastery Trska crkva, spring of Krupaja, monastery Gornjak and the remains of the monastery of Annunciation.
