NORTHERN KUCAJ (Sokolovac 626 m)
Sokolovac is the most attractive viewpoint in the Djerdap gorge. It has a beautiful view at the Danube river.
The marked path starts at tunnel no. 17, on the Djerdap highway, at the junction of the rivers Pesaca and Danube. You must walk about 6 km to the top, with 500 m of ascent. The distance from Belgrade is about 170 km (2.5 hours by car). Another name for Sokolovac is Secinski peak.
Half of the path leads through the forest and follows the small Pesaca river. The last 3 km of the trail is speckled with meadows and forest.
The markings are clearly visible. After you leave the forest, you will come to a meadow. There are no markings here, but the path is easily recognizable. The peaks of Northern Kucaj are around you, with the dominant mountain Somrda. From Sokolovac, you can see Treskavac and Domogled, in Romania, and Coka Njalta, the neighboring peak, which is separated from Sokolovac by the river Pesaca.

You will return back by the same path. On the way back, you will enjoy in a view at mountain Somrda and its peaks.
Somrda
I recommend this nice tour for the short autumn days, while the extended summer is still going on. Those more experienced can try to connect Sokolovac and Somrda (http://planine.net/srbija/istocna-srbija/somrda-somrdski-kamen-803-m/), but that is an 23 km long adventure.
