HOMOLJE MOUNTAINS (Krilas – Veliki vrh 670 m)
Krilas, also known as Veliki vrh (the Big top), is one of the many peaks of Homolje mountains. Although he is not so attractive as neighboring Jezevac, or Vukan, he still has something to offer.
The road leads you via Pozarevac and Petrovac, villages of Zdrelo and Setonje, to the village of Vezicevo. Vezicevo is about 135 km from Belgrade, or about 2.5 hours of drive.
The trail starts from the church of St. Elias, at Vezicevo. This church is known as the “Church of Milja vezilja”. Just follow the signpost “Crkva Milje vezilje” and you will reach the church.
Across the church is a cemetery, and that is the beginning of the trail.
The path leads along the cemetery and turns right, uphill. The trail is not marked, but that is not a problem. Just follow the main path and do not turn to the side roads. At this crossroad, turn right:
On the way to Krilas, you will see some interesting landscapes, but the real treat is at the top.
The next important intersection is at this place. Turn right, next to the board (you will see it).
Soon you will see Veliki vrh, ie. Krilas (670 m).
From the top, you can see a half of the mountains of Eastern Serbia and many of Homolje peaks. You can see clearly Jezevac, Vukan, Lucas stone, Sumorovac, Stubej, Beljanica, Veliki Krs, Borski Stol, Deli Jovan … It is a real pleasure to observe these magical mountains and peaks from Krilas. It looks like Krilas seems to be the best positioned peak of Homolje mountains. Everything is at the palm of your hand! Here are the pictures:
It takes 2.5 to 3 hours of hiking, from the Church of Milja vezilja, to Veliki vrh. The length of the trail is about 16 km and the altitude is about 500 m. This tour can be combined with the neighboring Jezevac, if you manage to find a path between these two peaks.
