ZEZELJ (486 m)
Zezelj is a hill above Kragujevac. Although it is not a mountain, it should not be bypassed.
Zezelj is located 4-5 km from the center of Kragujevac, in the village of Zdraljica. From Belgrade, take the Belgrade-Nis highway and exit toward Mladenovac. Follow the signs to Kragujevac. In Kragujevac, follow the signposts to Jagodina. The start of the marked trail is at the restaurant “Medna”, on the left side of the road, in the village of Zdraljica. When you see the green sign “Vodopad Buk”, stop the car.
The first 100 meters walk along the asphalt road, then turn right into the forest, at this place:
After 5 minutes of walk, you will come to the highest waterfall of Sumadija region. This waterfall is 15 m high and it is called Buk. Unfortunately, in August it was almost without water.
From the waterfall, the marked trail leads to Zezelj (486 m). The trail is 2.5 km long (45 minutes of walk) and leads through the forest. From the top of the hill, you can see the city of Kragujevac and its surroundings.
From the top, you can go forward by a marked path. The trail will take you to the mountain Besnjaja. But, this tour is at least 30 km, to go to Besnjaja and back.
I recommend 2.5 – 3 km hike, from Žeželj to the old oak. Along the way, you will have a nice a view at Kragujevac, the slopes of Besnjaja and Gledic mountains.
The tour is easy and relaxing, though it does have a slightly stronger ascent to the top of Zezelj.
