VIDLIC (Kozji kamen 1181 m, Basarski kamen 1376 m)

Mountain Vidlic is a suburb of Stara planina (Old mountain). One of the most beautiful lookouts in Serbia, Kozji kamen (1181 m), is located at Vidlic.

Vidlic rises above Pirot. The nearest lookout point is Basarski kamen (1376 m). The beginning of the trail to Basarski kamen, is 5 km from the center of Pirot, near abandoned mountain lodge. Trail to Kozji kamen (Goat stone) starts 7 km from the center of Pirot.

The distance between Belgrade and Pirot is 305 km. Turn off at the first exit for Pirot (Pirot zapad). Drive to the traffic roundabout, and exit at third exit. You will pass by the market, and the road will take you uphill. When you see the red sign “Kozji kamen”, on the left side of the road, park your car.

After an hour, you will reach the top. You must walk for 3.6 km and overcome 200 m of an easy ascent. The trail is marked well. Return is by the same path. You will enjoy at curly Zavoj lake.

The next stop is Basarski kamen. From Kozji kamen, drive down by the asphalt road, for 2 km, to the mountain lodge. The trail starts just below the lodge.

The trail is marked well and you can pass it within an hour (3 km; 300 m of ascent ). Turn back by the same way.

From the peak of Basarski kamen, you can see mountain Ruj, and, in front of it, mountains Greben and Vlaska. And the river Jerma canyon, between these two mountains. If there are no clouds, you can see Midzor, the highest peak of Stara planina.

The lookout Molitva, at Uvac, Banjska stena, at mountain Tara, and Kozji kamen, are among the three most beautiful lookout points in Serbia. So, don’t miss the trip to Vidlic, it’s worth every kilometer of driving!

From the turn to Kozji kamen, continue straight, by the asphalt road, in the direction of the village of Rsovci. After 200-300 m, turn right, onto the only macadam road. Follow that road for next 500 m. Macadam turns left. From the macadam road, turn left into the woods. Follow the stream and cross it. You will find yourself above or below waterfall Krajinci. Go down (or climb up) to this incredible waterfall! The only cascade is 5-6 meters high. Enjoy in this magnificent wonder of nature!
