FRUSKA GORA (Waterfall Dumbovac, Kobilica 385 m)
Waterfall Dumbovac is the most famous waterfall at Fruska gora. There are 40 waterfalls at Fruska gora! Many of these waterfalls are not so attractive, but Dumbovac is very interesting, although it is only 5 meters high!
The trail starts at monastery Rakovac (15th century). From Belgrade, the road to Rakovac leads via Ruma, Irig and Vrdnik. The distance between Belgrade and Rakovac is about 95 km (an hour and a half by car).
From the monastery, you should go back and pass the turn for Beli majdan. After 500 m, at the private villa “Šumska idila”, turn right, onto a marked path. From here, to Dumbovac waterfall, you must hike for about 2.5 km, which is a little less than an hour of walk. I recommend that you use a navigation or maps.me application, because the markings at Fruska gora sometimes can be confusing.
After 1.5 km, you will descend into Dumbovac creek. The trail runs parallel with the creek, and through the creek, and leads you to the beautiful waterfall Dumbovac.
On the right side of the waterfall, are steps, which will lead you further. After less than 700 m from the waterfall, you will reach the top of Kobilica (385 m). But first you have to overcome 120 m of steep ascend. From the top of Kobilica, you can clearly see the highest peak of Fruska gora, Crveni cot (Red cot, 539 m).
The tour is 8 km long, and can be completed in 2-2.5 hours. But, it’s not easy. You need to move through the stream and then climb a steep path, to Kobilica. And go back. However, I recommend everyone to take this trail, at least to the waterfall. Waterfall Dumbovac is one of the most beautiful waterfalls located near Belgrade and it is definitely worth a visit.
