SUVOBOR (866 m)
Suvobor is the last mountain in a range of Valjevo mountains. This range consists of mountains Medvednik, Jablanik, Povlen, Maljen and Suvobor. Trail to the highest peak of Suvobor starts from the mountain lodge “Cika Dusko Jovanovic”, at Rajac. Rajac is also one of the peaks of Suvobor. Also, Rajas is a well known picnic place.
Distance between Belgrade and Rajac is about 100 km, or about an hour and a half of drive, by the Ibar highway. From the highway, you must turn right when you see a signpost to Rajac. From this turnoff, there is about 10 km to Rajac. On your way to Rajac, you will pass through the village of Slavkovica.
From the mountain lodge, go uphill by the asphalt road, until you see the table with sign “Suvobor”.
From here, gravel road will take you to the mountain hut Dobra Voda, which is a small mountain lodge. I think that maximum of 12 people can sleep inside. From Rajac to Dobra Voda, you will need about an hour and a half of walk. Dobra Voda is located at 758 meters a.s.l.
The trail is marked well and it is very easy to hike, almost without an ascent.
From Dobra Voda to the highest peak of Suvobor, you will hike fora about 45 minutes. From the top you will clearly see mountain Ravna Gora. On the left is mountain Povlen, with its three peaks, right in front is Maljen and far in the distance is Medvednik. On the top is a monument dedicated to soldiers who were killed in the First World War.
This tour is quite easy. It is good for hikers-beginners. After you climb down from Suvobor, you can go to Rajac, another beautiful top of Suvobor. From Rajac to the mountain lodge “Cika Dusko Jovanovic”, you will need about 30 minutes of walk.
