RUDNIK (Ostrvica 758 m)
Ostrvica is a former volcanic peak, but also the most impressive peak at mountain Rudnik. It is also a remain of a medieval fortress. You must drive by the Ibarska highway, and then turn toward Rudnik. After the first pump at Rudnik, turn left, toward the village of Varnice. Distance between Belgrade and Rudnik is about 110 km. When you turn toward the village of Varnice, drive for 15-20 minutes. Park your car in the center of the village, near the small fountain. You will see Ostrvica.
After 300 m, turn right, onto a gravel road. The trail is marked very well. The first part of the track is a macadam road, then the path leads across the meadow and into the woods. After the forest, you will climb the rocks. It looks dangerous at some points, but it is not.
It takes about 45 minutes, from the bottom to the top. Here is the view from the top:
If you have a car, you could make a tour Bukulja-Vencac-Ostrvica in one day, if you can reach Rudnik via Arandjelovac and Topola.
June 2010.
