ZLATIBOR (Veliki Viogor 1281 m)
Viogor is the highest peak in the area of Semegnjevo, a picturesque Zlatibor village. From Belgrade, Semegnjevo is about a 3 hour of drive (230 km). Travel along the Milos Veliki highway, via Uzice and the center of Zlatibor, where the road to Semegnjevo separates. There are two attractions in the village: the wooden church of St. John the Baptist and waterfall Skakavac. Marked trail starts from the waterfall.

Waterfall Skakavac
A marked trail leads to the right and up, along an asphalt road. Very soon, the path turns to macadam, which leads through the forest, all the way to the top of Veliki Viogor (1281 m). The trail is part of the European hiking trail and it is marked with red and yellow signs. From the waterfall to the top, you must walk 4 km (an hour and a half ), with 350 m of ascent. There are no attractive viewpoints on the way to the top, they start after the descend from Viogor, towards Mokra Gora.

Go back by the same way you came. Or you can go further, and make a circular tour. In that case, you will need a map, because I lose marked path on that trail, so I am not sure where is the right turn to circular path. Anyway, I came to the place Jovin grob (Jova’s grave), and turn left, 200 meters before the grave, on the macadam road.
To make a circular tour, from Viogor follow the markings and signpost “Jovin grob”. You descend over the top of Police (1216 m), a beautiful viewpoint, along the border of Mokra Gora. But, when you descend from the top onto the macadam, do not go right, to Jova’s grave (which can be seen in the distance), but turn left (signpost to the Drugancice waterfall). If it is not early spring, do not waste time with the waterfalls of Drugancica. When you turn left, the marker will follow you for a while, then it will disappear (or I lose it?). You should have a map, to get you back to the waterfall Skakavac. I returned through the hamlets of Panjak and Tosici, to the starting point. Whole tour was about 15-16 km long, with 500 m of total ascent.

I really enjoyed the beautiful landscape of Zlatibor highlands, which you can see just after Viogor. Zlatibor is truly unique in its beauty, and it is certainly one of the most beautiful mountains in western Serbia. After Viogor, you can see Mokra Gora and the slopes of Tara, as well as many peaks of Zlatibor. If you want to escape from steel and concrete in the center of Zlatibor, come to Semegnjevo, you won’t regret it!
