UVAC (Molitva 1247 m)

Canyon of river Uvac is well known, mostly for its beautiful photographs of meanders and Griffon vultures. This place is best to visit in the summer, because then you can visit the ice cave and swim in the lake.

From Belgrade, to Uvac, you can come by Ibar highway. At Pozega, you must turn on the road to Ivanjica. From Ivanjica, follow the signs to Sjenica, over mountain Javor. It is about 290 km, to the final destination. Less than 2 km before Sjenica, is a Sjenicko lake. When you see the lake, park the car. From this point, to the camp “Markova ravan”, it takes about half an hour of walk. This photo marks the beginning of your tour:

To reach the camp, you must go over the hill, which is, at the picture above, on the right side. There is a gravel road, which leads to the camp. Also, you can go by car, but I do not recommend it, because the road is full of holes and bumps. The camp has a number of trailers and mobile homes, that you can rent. This is the view from the top of the hill, above the camp:

The camp has a few boats, that can take you on a cruise, for a reasonable price.

From the camp, the trail goes to the lookout Molitva (The Prayer). It takes about 2 hours, of moderate walking, to reach the top of this impressive peak, with a view that you saw many times on the photos. Griffon vultures are circling above you, while you are walking. At this place, there are over a hundred of them. Uvac and Tresnjica canyon are the only habitat of the griffon vulture in Serbia. The griffon vultures are very territorial birds. They leave their habitat only when they can not find a female. It is interesting that, when male finds his life companion, he is staying with her until his death.

What else to say, at the end? This unique place leaves everyone speechless!
