JAVOR (Vasilija’s peak 1519 m)

Mountain Javor is located 230 km from Belgrade. When you drive by the Ibar highway, you must turn toward Arilje and Ivanjica, near Pozega. From Ivanjica, drive in the direction of Sjenica, to the village of Kusici. Some 8 km after Kusici, you will spot a paved road, which turns right. There is also a monument. Drive by that road to the end, to a huge, abandon house. On a small hill, a military cemetery is located, with a monument to major Ilic. Left from the house, when you get down by the slope, is Vasilija’s well. According to legend, the girl Vasilija waited for her prince, at this place, and died from cold. That is why this spring has her name.

You will reach the top if you follow the gravel road, which leads to the left. There are hardly visible markings on the road. The peak is visible all the time. The problem may be to spot the right turn to the peak. The trail goes uphill, to the right, and then right again, by the slope, across the potato field. This is a rocky part. You are now at the very top. Go a little more further and you will come to a stone, which marks Vasilija’s top. The climb is quite easy, it took me only 30 minutes to the peak!
